What does Dan Eastman Stand For?
I will prioritize first and foremost public safety and crime prevention resources in Ozaukee County. We all deserve a safe community and our county Sheriff's Department needs county board support to ensure they are well provisioned and able to do their job. Criminals are more sophisticated these days and our sheriff needs resources and support to keep us all safe.
I support local agriculture and I will work to preserve and enhance farming in Ozaukee County. Our agricultural heritage is more than just farming. It forms the bedrock of our culture and our future. I support reasonable and cost-effective farming methods that keep farming viable in Ozaukee County.
I am also very concerned about the environmental and electric utility issues surrounding the development of the Port Washington data center. We must preserve our rural and agricultural heritage while prudently moving into the future. My Experience in regulating public utilities and my current legal representation of citizens groups questioning the development of the data center will be valuable to the county board. These are complex issues and require a deep understanding of the process. I note that this is a bi-partisan effort.
Historically, counties are responsible for taking care of the poor and needy. This responsibility goes back way before the founding of our Republic. We have a responsibility to help the needy and we do. Mental health and substance abuse are growing issues in our county and prudent steps must be taken to address problem within the capacity of our tax base. But, I will watch carefully as a former county auditor that all tax dollars are properly spent in the administration of all county programs.
Why Should I Vote for Dan Eastman? One Word... EXPERIENCE!
This is not the time for "on the job" training. I have over 10 years of executive leadership experience in local, state and county government - both as an elected official and as an appointee. I served as the former Racine County Finance Director and Chief Auditor where we kept the tax levy flat while increasing social services, negotiated acceptable salary and benefits with represented and sworn employees, kept the county owned nursing home and restored the county-owned marina facility.
I also have state government experience as a former gubernatorial appointee to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, the state Securities Commissioner and as executive assistant to the Secretary of the (then called) Wisconsin Department of Commerce.
My education includes a Bachelor's degree in Finance, a Master's degree in Economics and a Juris Doctor so I am well prepared to handle the complex regulatory and financial issues facing Ozaukee County.
I am uniquely qualified to represent you on the Ozaukee County Board of Supervisors. Serving on the county board requires a significant time commitment. My law practice is local in Mequon so I am able to easily attend board and committee meetings. I've lived in the 19th district for over 44 years and my family has a long tradition of farming and business in Mequon.
